DOI Invests $27 Million to Update Tribal Water Dams

The funding is for the repair and replacement of clean water systems on Native reservations.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced that the allocation of $27 million under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to repair critical water infrastructure for four Tribal nations. The four approved projects were selected by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, distributing this investment to repairs for the Oglala Dam, a new Arizona dam, fishing site water sanitation, and the Nez Perce Reservation’s public water system.

“We are making critical infrastructure investments in Tribal communities across the country,” said Secretary Deb Haaland. “In addition to the resources we have allocated for irrigation power systems and water sanitation systems in Indian Country, today’s announcement will further safeguard Tribal water supplies, particularly in the face of persistent drought conditions across the West.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
